DINNER SAFARI

No time to fly to Africa for dinner on the Serengeti? No problem! Send your friends or family for an after-hours tour of the Honolulu Zoo to see what our animals do when the sun is setting and the gates are closed. Then enjoy an onolicious buffet dinner before embarking on a night-tour of the Zoo visiting a few of our nocturnal inhabitants. Your night ends with s’mores around a campfire – and likely a few roars and howls in the distance!

SNOOZE IN THE ZOO (ALL AGES)

Best Family Gift in Honolulu!
Camping with the family is great, but you’ve camped everywhere on island… or have you? Not if you haven’t camped among the animals at the Zoo! This overnight event includes a delicious buffet dinner and an evening tour of the Zoo as the animals are getting ready for bed or waking up for their “day”. You will enjoy s’mores around a campfire before hitting your tent for the night, serenaded with roars, whoops, and howls from the Zoo inhabitants in the background. Wake up to a buffet breakfast and a morning tour to see what happens at the Zoo before we open. Participants are welcome to stay after the conclusion of the program to enjoy a day at the Zoo!

If you’re looking for a unique educational experience, you’ve found it! Stargazing at the Zoo is a 2 hour program featuring both an after-hours educational tour of the Zoo and a presentation in a portable planetarium provided by the University of Hawaii Institute of Astronomy. The evening concludes with a biofact display, a constellation craft, light refreshments, and star gazing through telescopes. This popular event fascinates young and young-at-heart alike, and is only available during summer months.

TWILIGHT TOURS (ALL AGES)

Ever wonder what the Zoo is like once the visitors leave and the gates close? Join us most Friday and Saturday evenings to find out! Just as everyone else leaves the Zoo, you will be guided by educators on a two hour walking tour to learn about and visit with the Zoo’s most intriguing animals. Watch some of our animals prepare to sleep, while others are just waking up. Learn about the animals’ biology and behavior, and the role that the Zoo plays in conservation of our endangered species. The tours will conclude in our classroom with skull displays and light refreshments.
