Camp ‘Imi Loa

Explore our zoo, our islands, our world

Children ages 6-8 years

Camp `Imi Loa will engross your keiki in the fascinating kingdom of animals with fun age appropriate lessons using tactile biofacts, crafting activities, songs, stories, keeper talks and games centered around the theme of the week. Summer Camp Dates:

Summer Camp will be held weekly from May 30, 2017 to August 18, 2017. Sign ups will begin April 1st.

Safety comes first! Please note that the following is required for all children attending Zoo Camp. In the unlikely event of an illness or emergency, Instructors need to be able to easily communicate with both the child and the parents or guardians.

  • All children attending camp MUST be able to speak and understand English, translators are not available.
  • A United States cellphone contact number must be available on the first day of Camp or the child may not attend. For international visitors, please rent or purchase a prepaid cellphone. Hotel phone numbers are not accepted.

May 30 - Trip through Time
Explore Earth’s past to encounter prehistoric species from trilobites to dinosaurs, and learn about their links to today’s living animals.

June 5 - The Most Extreme
Explore extreme climates, animals and habitats from around the world in this exciting week of fun facts and amazing creatures.

June 12 - Animal ‘Ohana
‘Ohana means family, but family can mean many different things depending on what kind of animal you are.

June 19 - Future Conservationists
Learn what it means to conserve an animal species and get in touch with your own inner field conservationist.

June 26 - Zoo Careers
Find out what jobs you could do if you ever wanted to work at a zoo!

July 3 - Under the Sea
Underneath the ocean lies a whole other world. Learn about all the different species and their roles in this underwater journey.

July 10 - Make Someone Happy
Discover how zoo staff help keep their animals happy and healthy through animal behavioral enrichment.

July 17 - Wildlife of the World
Discover the different ecosystems and biomes of the world and how animals have adapted to survive in even the most extreme environments.

July 24 - Make Every Day Earth Day
Be the change you want to see in the world and learn what you can do to make Earth day every day.

July 31 - Jungle Boogie
Get down and boogie to the sounds of nature and see who in the jungle has the best dance moves.

August 7 - Wild Hawaii
The Hawaiian Islands are the most isolated archipelago in the world. Meet some of the unique native species that make our home so special!

August 14 - Animal Artists
From feathers to frescos, explore the many ways that animals make everything in nature a work of art!

Policies for ALL Programs

Booking in advance is required, as spots fill up quickly. Please note that we do not refund for missed or partially missed days and some elements of our programs may change due to animal and staff availability.

Classes for children are held, rain or shine, in Hale ʻImi ʻIke (unless otherwise noted). All programs require participants to book in advance and wear closed-toe, covered shoes during their time at the Zoo. All participants must be potty-trained to attend camp.
